Turkish President Says Cultural Instruments Are Influential …
(MENAFN) On Tuesday, the Turkish president said that the tools of culture, involving music, movies, literature, as well as fashion, are “the most powerful weapons” held by the leaders of the international system.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan told the 2020 Presidential Culture and Arts Awards ceremony at the Presidential Complex that these tools, called “soft power,” can become much more effective methods than military, technological and financial control when demand emerges.
Erdogan said: “To these are now added the technology-based and Internet-based instruments, so much so that whoever controls Internet content has become more important than whoever has nuclear bombs.” .
He added: “However, no matter how many crowds they integrate or how rich the content they produce, they are still a long way from creating the influence that traditional culture and arts create in the human soul. “
