About the Early Childhood Program and First Instrument Classes
Hoff-Barthelson’s early childhood classes encourage and support the development of children’s minds and bodies through Dalcroze Eurythmics, a renowned teaching method that combines music and movement.

Weekly classes for preschoolers include exercises and games that involve singing, moving, improvising, and using small percussion instruments to foster acute inner hearing and rhythmic sensitivity. Props such as colorful balls, hula hoops, scarves and puppets bring musical concepts to life and stimulate the senses and imagination. Even the youngest children develop their concentration, spatial awareness, fine and gross motor skills, social skills and ability to work with others, while having fun.

Lessons are available for parents/guardians with their children as well as in a ‘drop-off’ format for children who like to attend music lessons independently.

“Weekly Early Years classes at HBMS provide a rich and inviting musical environment where children enjoy singing songs, transitioning to live music and playing percussion instruments,” said Early Years Music Specialist Laura Barnet. childhood with Hoff-Barthelson. “These group experiences are the perfect first step towards private instrumental teaching!”

For families interested in taking the first steps in learning an instrument, group piano, violin, flute and guitar lessons introduce the joy of making music with others while teaching basic playing technique. and fundamental musical concepts.
