Programs, financial aid available for community music school students

JACKSON, MI – The Jackson Symphony Orchestra Community Music School has openings and financial aid available to students this fall.

Openings are available in the Jackson Youth Symphony Orchestra, in String Team and in group and private lessons. Financial aid is also available for a number of students in these fields, officials said.

“Our mission is to provide the highest quality music education to everyone in Jackson and the surrounding communities,” school principal Jed Fritzemeier said in a statement. “We are there to develop all musicians. We want everyone to know that not only do we have a wide range of opportunities for young people to learn and play music, but also that there is assistance available to help make these opportunities accessible to all.

The school has had more scholarships available in recent years than it has been able to give out, Fritzemeier said.

“The Community Music School is a great resource for the Jackson community,” said Fritzemeier. “We hope that students of all ages, interests and abilities will benefit from the program as well as the financial aid that is widely available to help.”

More information about the programs can be found at the Community Music School website.
