Next Generation Tejano Artists Help Donate Instruments to San Antonio High School’s Conjunto Program – Tejano Nation

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The Tejano Music Recording Academy (TMRA) donated a Hohner and Ymagen Bajo Sexto accordion to Southside High School Conjunto Cardenales Monday (May 10). Conjunto Cardenales is the first high school conjunto group in San Antonio. The program was started by a music teacher Anna Bustamente.

Were present at the presentation the president of TMRA Francisco Chapatwo times Premios Tejano Mundial Male Vocal Performance of the Year Winner Jesse TurnerAustin-based award-winning teenage singer Mia Garcia, Conjunto Cats accordionist Zeke Camposbrothers Tristan and Dylan Ramosaccordionist and bajo sexto (respectively) from Lamesa, Texas, and Signno Kid.

The Southside ISD superintendent also participated Rolando RamirezSouthside ISD Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education Miguel A CastilloSouthside ISD 2 Board Director position Mary Silva, David Gonzalez from the SE Ymagen Guitars, Arthur “Tweet” Juarezdonor of the Hohner accordion, and Humberto Lopez of Lopez Broadcasting.

Turner is the lead vocalist and accordionist of Siggno, the chart-topping Tejano band from Santa Rosa, Texas known for their Rockteño sound. Zeke, Tristan, Dylan and Mia are next generation Tejano artists. The donated musical instruments were presented to the Tejano Music Recording Academy at La Segunda Entrega de los Premios Tejano Mundial 2022 on February 20, 2022.
