Community music school offers new group programs and private music lessons for fall 2020

Community music school

the University of Arkansas School of Community Music continues to offer private and group lessons for students of all ages this fall, although the lessons are held virtually rather than face-to-face.

For students who want to learn a new instrument or hone their skills after a while, CMS and Suzuki Music Schools can put everyone on the right track.

Visit the CMS website to fill out some information and find a schedule and rate plan that best suit each person’s needs. Prices vary depending on the length of the course and the teachers available.

The course will run virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions, so everyone can follow social distancing guidelines and stay safe.

If you prefer to be part of a group music class, CMS and Suzuki are offering three new groups starting in September:

  • Musical foundations for beginners: Do you have a child aged 4 to 6 curious about music? CMS is delighted to offer a Beginner Musical Foundations Course for students and their tutors to take together! No musical instrument required.
  • Nurturing Musical Ability: Parents, do you want to foster the love of music in your child? The online course, Nurturing Musical Abilities, will explain how to support and encourage your child’s musical education in a community of other caregivers.
  • Jazz Training Program: This year, CMS is thrilled to offer the very first online Jazz Training Program! Designed after a group practice class, these fun classes will sharpen your jazz skills by working on scales, patterns and improvisation exercises on an online platform.

Once again this year, the University of Arkansas Children’s Choir will be open to all boys and girls in grades 2-12 who are interested in singing. We have all levels of singers in our choirs, from beginners to advanced.

Visit for instructions on auditions and how the rehearsals will be conducted.
